PHOENIX — Arizona’s 211 economic crisis hotline is now available 24 hours a day, the Crisis Response Network announced last week.
The Arizona Information and Referral Service program moved to all-day service for the 2021 fiscal year because of new funding from the Arizona Department of Economic Security.
The change will allow operators to help individuals and families find economic resources and services whenever possible throughout the day.
“Live-answer service provides a personal, human connection that people deserve and allows us to better assist callers with any and all needs they may have,” Justin Chase, president and CEO of Crisis Response Network, said in a press release.
Some services individuals can reach out about include:
• Supplemental food and nutrition programs
• Shelter and housing options
• Utilities assistance
• Emergency information and disaster relief
• Employment and education opportunities
• Services for veterans
• Health care, vaccination and health epidemic information
• Addiction prevention and rehabilitation programs
• Re-entry help for ex-offenders
• Support groups for individuals with mental illnesses or special needs
• A safe, confidential path out of physical and/or emotional domestic violence
The live-answer service was restored on April 30 after being temporarily shut down in July 2019 due to funding challenges.
The 211 line also serves as the surge line for the Arizona coronavirus outbreak and the Arizona crisis counseling program.
